How Do You Know if Your Skin is Healthy?

It can be tough knowing if you’re doing a good job keeping your skin healthy. But there are certain signs that should point you in the right direction. If you don’t have to invest in a ton of products to keep your skin healthy, you drink plenty of water of daily, you use sunscreen every day and you regularly exfoliate, you’re already on the right track. 

At the heart of it all, having a regular skin care regimen is the best way to get and maintain healthy, glowing skin. Can you say yes to the following? If so, you are doing your part to enjoy healthy skin. 

Your Skin is Hydrated

Drinking enough water is important to the functioning of your internal organs, to be sure, but did you know it’s also crucial to ensuring healthy skin? As the largest organ in your body, your skin needs a lot of water to function properly. You should be drinking eight 8-ounce glasses per day, equal to two liters or half a gallon.

You Wear Sunscreen Daily

It’s not enough to protect your skin only on sunny days. Harmful UV rays get through all kinds of weather, including clouds. Even if you’re driving in the car, flying in an airplane, or out running errands, you need to wear sunscreen of at least SPF 15. 

Your Skin Doesn’t Feel Tight or Dry

You shouldn’t feel any tightness or dryness in your skin. It should feel light and well, just there. If you don’t feel anything plaguing your skin, whether you have makeup on or not, this is a good sign. If you are feeling unusual or uncomfortable sensations, such as dryness and tightness after washing, take another look at your skin care regimen. Perhaps you’re using a cleansing product that’s too harsh for your skin type. If you have itching or burning, talk to your dermatologist about changing your skin care routine. 

Your Skin Color is the Same All Over

Consistent skin color is one of the most positive signs that your skin is healthy and free of common skin diseases. If you see a lot of dark spots or redness, something is going on, such as eczema, psoriasis or rosacea. Perhaps you have noticed areas of discoloration that are not normal for your skin. In that case, make an appointment with your dermatologist.

You Regularly Exfoliate Your Skin

Dead skin cells can stay on your body long after their welcome is played out. That’s why you should encourage their removal by exfoliating both your face and body on a regular basis.

You Moisturize Often
